Zim Police Act Outside Rule Of Law

Today's news from Zimbabwe shows the increase in the scale of terror and horror that has become usual since the elections many weeks ago. Still there are brave voices in Zimbabwe who say he cannot kill all the voters. Two pieces of information are pointers to the current lawlessness of Zimbabwean police and state agents. Read more »

Stand Up For Zimbabwe

I was privileged the day before yesterday, Saturday 24 May, to spend a few hours keeping vigil outside Zimbabwe House, London. But you know the end of the day I was free to return home to one of the safest towns in one of the safest counties in one of the safest countries in the world.  Read more »

Stand Up For Zimbabwe Day -- 25 May 2008

OK, so enough is enough. A coalition of South Africa based NGOs are organising Stand Up For Zimbabwe Day this Sunday 25th May on what has always been Africa day. This is quite appropriate as those who know anything of Southern Africa will tell you that what happens in Zim affects very much what happens in the rest of Southern Africa. Read more »

Beatings, Torture and Horrific Violence in Zimbabwe

You may know that newsnight tonight (BBC 10:30) will include details of horrific state sponsored violence in Zimbabwe designed to intimidate people against voting for peaceful change.

Call for teachers to stick up for teachers in Zimbabwe

As regular readers of Aylesbury Life will know I have been pretty cut up over the recent post election violence in Zimbabwe. But what really saddens me as a teacher and a former low ranking local government officer is the fact reported by the International Herald Tribune today that

"The darkest hour is before the dawn" letter from Zimbabwe

This letter was forwarded to me by the Revd Dr David Bronnert whom I know as a friend. I have but I have not published the name of the author. Please use the letter to inform your prayers for peace.

Letter from Zimbabwe sent in by John W

I reckon that these are the last days of TKM and ZPF. The darkest hour is always before dawn.
We are all terrified at what they are going to destroy next........I mean they are actually ploughing down brick and mortar houses and one white family with twin boys of 10 had no chance of salvaging anything when100 riot police came in with AK47's and bulldozers and demolished their beautiful house - 5 bedrooms and pine ceilings - because it was "too close to the airport", so we are feeling extremely insecure right now. Read more »

Kudos to the South African port workers who refused to ship arms

I am sorry to say that the lack of international action for the people of Zimbabwe is both sad and embarrassing.

I note that CNN reports Opposition warns of genocide in Zimbabwe and I also know full well it is very easy to pontificate from the comfort of my study in Aylesbury, England. Read more »
