You know sometimes I feel a bit silly writing to FIFA President Joseph Blatter and Downing Street merely because somebody somewhere lost the plot on stepping down from power gracefully.
But in the time it has taken to walk to town to post Joseph Blatter's letter and back, it seems the whole world's news channels have filled with reported assassination threat on the life of Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwean "opposition" leader.
Also I note that Chinese government weapons recently turned away by South African port workers (NOT turned away by the South African government I hasten to add) have now made it to Zimbabwe. To whit, "3-million rounds of assault rifle ammunition, 3,000 mortar rounds and 1,500 rocket-propelled grenades" have been delivered to Harare by way of a charter plane registered in Britain, according to ioL.
All this just adds to the sadness of the situation, to the grossness of the murders and of the tortures and of the intimidations, and to my resolve to do all I can to help, which brings me to the people of Zimbabwe; a people of sterling courage and great forbearance. It would be really great for them (I know because their real leaders say so), it would be really great for them to hear people from around the world making as much noise about the Zim injustice as there is now appearing in some parts of the news media.
So do I care if I feel a bit silly? Do I forgive Mugabe for forcing these horrors onto the world? Of course I feel silly and of course I forgive -- but that hurts and I do not forget the people of Zimbabwe have decided that we have to have change. Let each and everyone of us do what we can to say NO to Mugabe and encourage others to do the same, because Enough Is Enough.
If you have any suggestions to support the courageous people of Zimbabwe, please add them by way of comment below.
