Aylesbury Town Centre Photos Two Dot Oh

Jocelyn Chappell's picture

See how web 2.0 community services encourage co-operation with both their own members and also members of other web 2.0 communities; illustrated by way of Photos at Aylesbury LIFE.

It happens the photos are actually stored on Flickr and I only have copies displayed here.

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

Looking at the system as a whole its significant strengths are:

  1. one of my pupils who took the marvelous photos for some Geography course work,
  2. Flickr which stores them for myself and because I made them public for the worldwide community, and
  3. FlickrSlidr which helped me find the code to display them nicely here.

By away access to one service (Flickr) from another (Aylesbury LIFE) it turns out they both benefit. In this case:

  • Flickr benefits (because you can click on the pictures above and go to see the originals on Flickr and enjoy Flickr service while you are there), and
  • Aylesbury LIFE benefits because it doesn't need to reinvent the wheel to solve the problems associated with storing and displaying large volumes of photographs.

This is just one example of how web 2.0 community network services work together both with their own members and those of other web 2.0 communities for the mutual benefit (aka network effect) of all.
