LLLL2 01: Read the story of the good Samaritan

So far so good. I said I would Love Life & Live Lent for forty days and so far I have. Today's random act of kindness was to read the story of the good Samaritan. It is the story of a real cool 'bad guy' - who does the right thing. This is what I did. You can make you own mind up how right that was.

  1. I typed "luke 10:31-37" in my (better than Internet Ex-plorer) FireFox Bible Gateway search bar set up by default for a good all round modern English translation (NLT).
  2. The story of the good Samaritan came up straight away, so I read it before I was distracted by other tasks.
  3. The good Samaritan is quite amazing - you know on the telly when the 'bad guy' always carries on being the 'bad guy' - well this one was different, he did right. And more than that, he did right over and above what was expected. He went above and beyond the call of duty, when there wasn't even a call of duty.
  4. Then I told my 'followers' on Twitter: " reading The Good Samaritan, an amazing story of a 'bad guy' who did good http://tinyurl.com/2jht8w - bring on the peace".

And now of course I am blogging it like I said I would. I wonder what would it be like if everyone gave peace a chance...? I wonder what a difference I would make if I was more ready to meet the needs of others...?

On the FaceBook application I use the good people at Love Life Live Lent ask you to say what you have done and how you feel about it. I wrote a little less than here ending with, "I feel great", because actually I do.

I haven't done anything that will help anyone in a material sense. But I have begun to allow my head to meet my heart on matters that matter. I sense a certain peace that can only have its origins in the one who started all this stuff we talk about in the first place.

You know, Lent is meant to be about allowing the Prince of Peace to light our path and I reckon the guys and girls at Love Life Live Lent have done us a good turn. Why not give it a go...? You can leave comments here (I hope) if you would like to share how you get on.
